“Stop with the hollow words”: U.S. Senate Candidate Karishma Manzur calls out Chris Pappas for lack of leadership in blocking ICE’s violence

EXETER, NH (January 16, 2026) –Today, U.S. Senate candidate Karishma Manzur called out Rep. Chris Pappas for not standing up for Americans amid increased ICE’s lawless actions.

“As millions of Americans struggle to afford healthy food, housing, and healthcare, Donald Trump is pushing through $30 billion in funding for ICE and $45 billion for for-profit detention centers,” said Karishma Manzur.

“The Department of Homeland Security funding is set to expire on January 30, and more than 100 members of Congress are opposing further funding, citing abuses by ICE. As we have come to expect, Congressman Chris Pappas has not joined them to protect Americans being terrorized by ICE.

“Rep. Pappas supported MAGA hardliners pushing for right-wing authoritarian tactics against immigration and democracy by voting for the Laken Riley Act and to ‘express gratitude’ to ICE. These actions make any of his recent statements of concern ring hollow.

“New Hampshire deserves leaders who refuse to use taxpayer dollars to harm our communities and our democracy.

“ICE is not about law enforcement. It is not about public safety.

“Congress members, including Rep. Chris Pappas, must immediately cease funding ICE. Furthermore, they must investigate if ICE agents are members of or have ties to Proud Boys, Jan 6 insurrectionists, or other extremist groups.”

As part of her immigration platform, Karishma will rein in ICE's lawlessness by ending its funding.
