Letter: Karishma Manzur won't ruin it for our kids

Israel’s U.S.-supported atrocity in Palestine is the most important issue of our time because of what it reveals about American character and because it is connected to all other matters.

Faced with this reality, some people care and do what they can.

Too many others look away, which is sad as people suffer horribly, but easy to do as the powers-that-be relentlessly pummel them with distraction and falsity while they are busy working and raising a family, with no time to validate hearsay.

Fortunately, although late, more people are poking through the censorship to grasp reality and are pushing back. It is indeed happening.

Nevertheless, the most stubborn to mature are the legislators. Chosen by the people in this democratic republic with the responsibility to delve more thoroughly into the issues as part of their job representing us, they should know better that supporting the U.S./Israeli actions drags American culture down and is a misguided and counterproductive immoral notion that only ensures our grandchildren will be less safe. One day, when you are forced to confront the land acknowledgements and public apologies, what tricks will you employ, what lies will you tell, to sneak over to the right side of history? As Omar El Akkad writes, “One day, everyone will have always been against this.”

I won’t vote for anyone who aids Israel and clings to AIPAC money, nor for someone just because “they can win” or who represents the “lesser of two evils.” I’m done with that. Otherwise we end up at the same place.

I’ll vote for Karishma Manzur, who will not screw it up for our children. As an added bonus, we would benefit from her science background, energy, and communication skills to handle all other issues as New Hampshire Senator.
