Letter: Karishma Manzur has a clear moral compass, Pappas does not

LTE by Donna Pare, Stratham

In the NH primary race on September 8, voters will be asked to choose Senatorial and Congressional candidates to represent their values. For many people in NH, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, Cuba and other foreign relations issues will play a major role in how they choose to vote.

Some candidates, such as Chris Pappas, have an unwavering support for Israel. This support continues despite Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza, continued land grab of Palestinian property in Gaza and the West Bank, daily violations of a “ceasefire” in Gaza and Lebanon, torture and sexual abuse of Palestinians held in Israel prisons, murder of Palestinian-Americans in the West Bank, and land grab of Lebanese and Syrian territory as part of its “Greater Israel Project”. A country that along with our own illegally attacked a sovereign country under the false pretense that Iran was “going to develop a nuclear weapon in the next week”.

While Pappas continues to vote to send U.S. taxpayer dollars to Israel so that country can buy military weapons from the U.S. military complex (an industry that is making a killing off of killing civilians), Americans continue to pay exorbitant prices for healthcare, schools are underfunded, the environment is deteriorating, regular folks are underpaid while the rich get richer. Pappas’ campaign is richly funded by corporations and special interests groups including those that support Israel’s continued Zionist ethnocentric agenda.

Kamala Harris lost her election in part because a large portion of the Democratic base couldn’t stomach supporting a candidate who was unable to have a different view regarding our relationship with Israel.

I will be voting for Karishma Manzur for Senate. She has a clear moral compass and speaks truthfully regarding the genocide in Gaza and for a need to stop unlawful militarily invasions of other countries. Her platform is based on building homes, affordable incomes, Medicare For All, funding education, and working to save our precious environment.
